This poem was born of my love for children. Even though I was never blessed with any children of my own I have and have had many children in my life. I honor children and feel that being a parent is an awesome honor and responsibility. Having spent time with children on both ends of the scale, affluent and closer to poverty, I get very clearly that their lowest common denominator is love. One dream, of mine, is to have the workshop that I have created, for children, either become a television program, or be taught as an after school program all around the world.
CHILDREN START LEARNING AT THE MOMENT OF THEIR BIRTH
AND WE CAN TEACH THEM EVERYTHING THEY KNOW
THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSON CONCERNS THEIR OWN SELF WORTH
LOVE’S THE KEY TO THEIR ABUNDANCE FLOW
TEACH THE CHILDREN, YES – TEACH THE CHILDREN
LOVE IS ALL THEY REALLY NEED TO GIVE
KEEPING THEIR HEARTS OPEN TO THE LOVE THAT IS WITHIN
WILL CONQUER ANY FOE FOR AS LONG AS THEY SHALL LIVE
IT’S THAT FOUR LETTER WORD THAT ERADICATES ALL FEARS
YES LOVE’S THE WORD THAT OPENS MANY DOORS
IT HEALS THE HEART THAT’S BREAKING
IT’S THE POWER OF THE OCEAN ON OUR SHORES
IN ALL THE BEAUTY GOD CREATED THERE’S A FORCE BEHIND CREATION
THAT FORCE OF LOVE’S IN EVERYTHING YOU SEE
A POWER OF LOVE TO HEAL THIS GREAT AND WONDROUS NATION
AND THIS SAME LOVE WAS GIVEN YOU AND ME
SO SUMMON UP THAT LOVE FROM DEEP INSIDE OF YOU
WHENEVER YOU ENCOUNTER A SMALL CHILD
TEACH THEM TO PUT LOVE IN EVERYTHING THEY DO
AND SOON WE’LL FIND THAT LOVE JUST GROWING WILD
